Christoph Cardinal Schönborn (*1945) has been Archbishop of Vienna since 1995 and an important voice of the Catholic Church worldwide. He is a builder of bridges at the service of Christian unity: since his time as a young Dominican, he has built encounters and friendship across the denominations. He has been influenced by the charismatic renewal and he is equally familiar with the theology and spirituality of Eastern Christian churches. He has significantly promoted the process of reconciliation between the historic churches and the Free Churches in Austria. In the Archdiocese of Vienna, he has been actively promoting a new discourse on discipleship and mission for many years to encourage more people towards an encounter with Christ.
